About Us:

Gloria Loew, Ph.D. has more than 30 years experience in Bergen County and Manhattan. Dr. Loew is a member of the American Psychological Association, New Jersey Psychological Association, The American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, The National Register of Psychology and the American Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. She is certified in EMDR and extensively trained in TFT (Thought Field Therapy) as well as Tappas Acupressure Technique.

Dr. Loew is joined in her practice by Barbara Hollman, L.C.S.W., Naomi Fox, L.C.S.W., and Jay Kind, PhD.   They have extensive clinical experience and expertise in both broad and specific areas, such as addiction, eating disorders, and treatment of trauma. New and innovative methods are utilized. Each takes great pleasure in helping individuals and families maximize their potential and personal happiness.  

Dr. Gloria Loew

Dr. Loew received her Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1967. She completed a two-year postgraduate fellowship at Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York City. Dr. Loew was in private practice in New York City before moving to New Jersey where she became licensed in Clinical Psychology and Marriage Family Counseling. She has lived and worked in Englewood where she raised her family and began a private practice and co-founded the Institute for Counseling and Psychotherapy. She has recently moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey, where she is continuing her practice.

She co-edited a book, "Three Psychotherapies: A Clinical Comparison". Dr. Loew has appeared on CBS News and the Donahue show and recently on Time Warner NJ10 among other programs.

She is certified in EMDR and extensively trained in Thought Field Therapy and Thought Directed Diagnosis, as well as the Tappas Acupressure Technique. Dr. Loew's office evolved from a solo practice to include three other psychotherapists. Together, this team provides a wide range of services and specialties, which include individual and couple therapy.  Patients of ages approximately 10 and above are treated.

The practice attracts a culturally diverse population and reflects Dr. Loew's interest in a spiritual and holistic view of life. As a community service and to further her own interests, she had frequently hosted workshops that focused on spirituality, healing and personal transformation at her home in Englewood. Many interesting teachers from all over the world have presented their ideas and talents. Dr. Loew is devoted to developing an interactive adventure series for children that inspires an understanding of life from both an intuitive and a logic based perspective. 


Barbara Hollman L.C.S.W., Certified Psychoanalyst

Barbara Hollman utilizes an experienced, caring, positive approach. She can help with personal problems (i.e. depression, anxiety, inability to accomplish one's goals and chronic dissatisfaction with life); and interpersonal problems (i.e. communication, conflicts with others and life changes).

Her approach to therapy is contemporary interpersonal and interactive. She is flexible and open to individual uniqueness. Barbara Hollman believes in a holistic view in approaching the problems of life.

She received a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Adelphi University and she is a graduate of a five-year postmasters training program in psychoanalysis at Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis. She recently completed training in Thought Field Therapy and Thought Directed Diagnosis. She specializes in the areas of relationship problems, couple counseling, compulsive eating and working with families of special needs children.

Dr. Jay Kind

Dr. Jay Kind is a clinical psychologist who uses an integrative psychotherapy approach to help people with life concerns.  These may be relationship problems, self-defeating \ behavior patterns, lack of direction in life, or specific problems such as anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks, trauma, or addiction.  He also specializes in men's issues and provides understanding and support for families with a member who suffers from serious psychiatric problems.  Dr. Kind is trained psychodynamically and believes in allowing for therapy to unfold in a warm and supportive atmosphere but he employs cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, EMDR, and the meridian-based therapies of the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Thought Field Therapy (EvTFT) when indicated.

Dr. Kind received his Ph.D from the University of Oregon and completed a two-year Postdoctoral fellowship in psychology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York.  He is certified in EMDR and EFT and has advanced training in Thought Field Therapy.
